This 29 minute TXCHR video starts with maps of the 13th century BCE, includes maps of the Ottoman Empire that ruled the region for 400 years, then WW I maps related to negotiations between the British and Arabs. Then the video shows maps of population and land ownership through the early 1940s. Maps of partition proposed by the British and the UN follow as well as population flow and armistice agreement lines signed between Israel and its neighbors in 1949. A map shows the results of the 1967 6-Day War. Finally there are maps showing the location of settlements in the West Bank and other maps showing the implication of the occupation. The video shows both a history of the region and provides viewers with an understanding of causes of conflict through the medium of maps.
