This TXCHR provides four maps from 1945 to 2020 maps to explore US foreign policy relative to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. This lesson plan invites students to explore U.S. involvement in the conflict through a map-based analysis. It compares historical and contemporary U.S. proposals, beginning with the 1947 UN Partition Plan and ending with the 2020 “Deal of the Century.” By examining land ownership, population demographics, and policy positions, students can critically analyze the implications of U.S. diplomacy and its role as a mediator in this ongoing conflict. The exercise encourages students to question the practicality, fairness, and long-term impact of proposed solutions while reflecting on how American values have shaped U.S. actions over time.
